This article covers the invitation email status feature in Salesforce, which allows users to track the status of invitation emails sent to attendees.
Invitation Email Status
Invitation email status feature lets you track whether attendees received an invitation email, the email’s current status, and any applicable bounce reason. Use these details with campaign member statuses or custom automation.
Enabling the Feature
To enable the invitation email feature, go to Setup > Visualforce Pages > App Configuration Page and toggle on the Sync Invitation Email Status feature.
Using the Feature
Once enabled, the system syncs the status of the invitation email (Sent, Opened, or Bounced) as part of the attendee data sync. The system tracks the email status as the attendee’s status. If the invitation email bounces, Salesforce stores the bounce reason in a dedicated field on the attendee record.
Disabling the feature stops future syncs, but won’t affect existing data.
If multiple invitation emails go to an attendee, only the most recent email status update appears in Salesforce. This means that the attendee’s status can change from “Invitation Opened” to “Invitation Sent” if a secondary invitation email reaches the same person.
