Overview
This article provides guidance on how to configure the Real-Time Attendee Sync feature in Cvent, which allows Salesforce to receive attendee status updates immediately. The article explains that this feature complements scheduled attendee syncs, rather than replacing them, and offers step-by-step instructions for configuring the feature in both Cvent and Salesforce.
Real-Time Attendee Sync
Real-time Attendee Sync offers a powerful feature that allows Cvent users to receive attendee status updates immediately. This feature leverages Cvent’s Push API integrations to send updates in real-time, rather than waiting for the already scheduled attendee sync configured in the Cvent Admin tab within the Salesforce App.
Note that this feature should complement your scheduled attendee syncs, not replace them. Use it to trigger Salesforce emails and other processes that can’t wait for the scheduled syncs. For example, you can use it to trigger a Salesforce email when someone registers or cancels instead of deploying a Cvent email. Additionally, this feature uses Salesforce APIs and counts against your daily API call limits.
Real-time Attendee Sync is limited to attendee and contact-level field changes. It does not sync event question answers, invitation email statuses, or attendee activities.
Salesforce can only accept and process roughly 30-50 records per second. For events with higher volumes per second, avoid using this feature.
Configuring this feature requires a Cvent user login as well as a Salesforce login.
Configuring Real-Time Attendee Sync in your Account
To begin configuring the real-time attendee sync in your Cvent account, follow these steps:
- Go to the Admin tab > Integrations > Push API Integrations and click Create Integration.
- Under Basic Information, configure the integration name and select Salesforce OAuth as the integration type.
- Input the Salesforce Login URL and click Connect with Salesforce. Follow the prompts to authorize the connection.

Once authorized, you return to the Cvent configuration page, where you can see the connection. The page also displays the Salesforce Org ID and User ID that established the connection.
Configuring Real-Time Attendee Sync in Events
To enable the real-time attendee sync in an event, follow these steps:
- Select the event where you’d like to use the real-time sync feature.
- In the left-hand navigation, select Integrations and find the Salesforce App tile. Click Set up or Customize.
- On the Basic Settings tab, click Edit. If the Salesforce App isn’t enabled, change sync this event to Yes, and select your Configuration.
- Click the drop-down under Salesforce OAuth Configuration and select the configuration name from the previous step.
- Click Save in the top right corner.
- Navigate to the Sync Settings tab and click Edit.
- Scroll to the Attendee sync (Triggers) section and set it to Yes. From the dropdown that appears, select which of the statuses within this event should trigger the real-time sync.
- Click Save.
With these steps, you’ve configured the real-time attendee sync feature. As attendees reach the specified status(es), their attendee record syncs in real-time and becomes available in Salesforce. Remember to limit the use of this feature to specific statuses and events to avoid hitting your Salesforce daily API call limits.
