This article details the responsibilities of a Salesforce System Administrator and Cvent Administrator in setting up the Cvent Salesforce App.
Setup the Cvent Salesforce App
Setup of the Cvent Salesforce App requires actions in both Salesforce and Cvent.
Because of this, a Salesforce System Administrator and Cvent Administrator should complete the configuration. These roles can belong to a single person or separate people, but please keep in mind the OAuth process requires Cvent Administrator credentials to successfully authenticate and connect the two systems.
If the Salesforce user configuring and managing the app is not a System Administrator, the following permissions are required: Customize Application, Managed Connected Apps, API Enabled, Modify Metadata through Metadata API Functions, Manage Profiles and Permission Sets, and the included in our package permission sets of Cvent - Event Admin (and/or Cvent - Survey Admin if you are using Cvent Surveys Premium functionality), as well as Cvent - Custom Fields. There may be specific field visibility updates required, too, based on how you use the app; error logs will display which fields will need to be updated accordingly.
Below you’ll find the list of general responsibilities for each administrator.
Salesforce Administrator
- Download and install the App.
- Follow Wizard to configure the App.
- Determine how and which users access the App.
Cvent Administrator
- Create Admin-level configuration
- Enable the configuration and features for each event that should sync to Salesforce
The Cvent Administrator should configure the Admin level settings, as well as create a test event and enable the Salesforce App for that event, before the Salesforce Administrator begins the configuration.
From there, the Salesforce System Administrator should use the installation wizard to configure the App. The wizard helps configure the App to connect, establish rules, and sync data.
After completing the wizard, the administrator still needs to determine how to best share the App with Salesforce users and perhaps configure more advanced features.
