Overview

This article serves as a guide for adding Cvent contact details to attendees in Salesforce, facilitating improved automation of sales and marketing activities.

Add Contact Details to Attendee

This feature allows you to map Cvent standard and custom contact fields to attendee fields in Salesforce. By doing so, it ensures that Salesforce contacts, leads, and person accounts linked to attendees remain unchanged. Contact details get directly stored on the attendee’s Salesforce record.

Enabling the Feature

Enable adding contact details on attendee if you want to map Cvent contact standard and custom fields to attendee fields in Salesforce. To do so, go to Setup > Visualforce Pages and click the preview button for App Configuration Page. Enable the “Add Contact Details to Attendee” feature toggle. You need to enable the Salesforce Metadata API to use this feature.

Note: once you turn off the feature, Cvent stops syncing new contact details to attendees. The existing data remains unaffected.

Configuration

Login to Salesforce and go to Cvent Admin > Attendee Fields tab. Set up mapping between the Cvent contact fields and the attendee fields in Salesforce within the Add Contact Details to Attendee section.

add contact details

Select an existing attendee field, or create a new one and then map it to a Cvent contact field. Newly created fields default to Text fields.

Note: If needed, you can change the attendee field’s data type by going to the Object Manager and selecting the Attendee.

After completing the configuration, the Cvent Salesforce App syncs the values from the Cvent contact standard and custom fields to attendee fields based on the defined mapping during each attendee data sync.

Note: Keep in mind that Cvent doesn’t sync contact-level updates to Salesforce unless an attendee-level change occurs. Make sure to update the attendee layout to expose the fields you mapped.
