Cvent’s SOAP API is being sunset. See REST API.
You can use Cvent’s API to push and pull data between Cvent and an existing internal system. Once you connect your internal system with Cvent, data can be transferred between them on a scheduled basis.
What can Cvent’s API do?
With Cvent’s API, you can:
- Have Cvent recognize another business system as the database of record for contact information.
- Keep your database or Customer Relationship Management system up to date by updating contact records with information captured during Cvent registration.
- Send financial transaction data to an accounts receivable or accounting system.
- Send event budgeting data to another business system.
- Keep your corporate website up to date with all of your latest available events.
- Update your corporate calendars with Cvent events so everyone knows when events are happening.
- Pull registrations or attendance data from an external system to maintain a centralized registration database.

Who will set up Cvent’s API?
Cvent gives you access to our API, but it is your team’s responsibility to develop the integration between your internal system and Cvent. This should be done by a team member with knowledge of API development. Cvent uses SOAP API. If you do not have a technical resource available, Cvent can recommend a third-party developer for you. Your Cvent representative can put you in touch with a contact from one of our third-party partners.
Please provide this person with a link to the Cvent Developer Hub, and specifically to this API.
In addition to the API documentation, Cvent provides you with a testing account as well as the API login credentials needed for signing into the API. By default, API users will have administrator privileges (e.g., full access to read and edit any data in your Cvent account). If you would prefer to restrict the permissions of your API user, your API user can be configured to follow the permissions of any user in your Cvent account. To do so, please create a user role and assign it to one of your users, then let your Cvent representative know off of which user the API permissions should be based.
Note: API calls between Cvent and your other system will happen on a scheduled basis. Be sure to discuss the desired schedule with your API integrator.
